The book of Job doesn't fix suffering. But it does refuse to lie about it.
Four weeks. One man who lost everything. No explanation. No tidy answer. Just an honest conversation about what faith actually looks like when your plans fall apart.
Over the next four weeks, we're walking through one of the most honest books in the Bible — a book about a guy named Job who wakes up one day and loses everything. His family. His health. His reputation. No reason given. No spiritual explanation that makes it okay.
Most books would move straight to "the lesson" or "the resolution." Job doesn't. It sits in the wreckage with you first.
If you've ever:
...this series is for you.
We're not here to explain suffering. We're here to be honest about it. And to discover that faith doesn't actually need the explanation to survive.
Week 1: When the Ground Gives Way
October 11 | Job 1–3
Job loses everything in one afternoon. No warning. No why. And somehow, in the middle of it, he worships. We'll start here — with faith that precedes understanding, and permission to grieve honestly when the weight finally lands.
Key idea: Worship doesn't wait for an explanation.
Week 2: Bad Answers to Real Pain
October 18 | Job 4–27
Job's friends show up to comfort him. They mean well. They're also completely wrong. This week is about what hurts people in pain — and how we actually comfort them.
Key idea: Sometimes the kindest thing is just to be present, not to fix it.
Week 3: Waiting in the Wisdom Gap
October 25 | Job 28–37
Job has said everything he can say. God hasn't spoken yet. This is the week for anyone who's been waiting for an answer that hasn't come — and might never come.
Key idea: Faith doesn't need closure to be real.
Week 4: Enter the Whirlwind
November 1 | Job 38–42
God finally speaks. Not with an explanation, but with himself. The shift isn't in Job's circumstances — it's in his closeness to God. We'll close with communion.
Key idea: Sometimes what we need more than an answer is an encounter.

During the week, we gather in smaller groups to talk through that week's sermon and discuss questions that might arise from reading through the book of Job. You don't have to have read ahead, and you don't have to have all your thoughts figured out yet.
